Soft Touch Lamps

2018
Distributed Design
Digital Manufacturing
Open Source

I was selected to a 5-day design challenge by The Distributed Design Market Platform in collaboration with the award-winning lighting brand Tala for the London Design Festival. Two lamps were designed to be manufactured anywhere in the world, using digital manufacturing techniques. The traditional process of manufacturing overseas with global distribution is no longer sustainable for our planet. Resource depletion, plastic oceans, and global warming are some of the reasons why designers need to be mindful of their design decision and its aftermath.

The sensory integration adds a softness and warmness to the digitally-made good. This distributed design process is a stroke away from making a difference.
